Dust: microfibre and a soft brush
A dry microfibre cloth is enough for smooth surfaces. For crevices and fine details, use a soft brush (make-up or hobby brush): it lifts dust without stressing fragile elements.
Marks: lukewarm soapy water, nothing more
For a stubborn mark, a barely damp cloth with lukewarm, lightly soapy water is enough; dry immediately.
Never use solvents (acetone, household alcohol, harsh degreasers): they attack both the plastic and any paint. And never the dishwasher or hot water.
Heat: PLA's enemy number one
PLA deforms under prolonged heat. Avoid a car interior in summer, the top of a radiator or the immediate vicinity of a powerful spotlight. At normal indoor temperature, it does not move.
Sunlight: slow fading
Like most plastics and paints, permanent exposure to direct sunlight dulls colours over time. Avoid a south-facing windowsill; a closed display case also keeps the dust away.
Handling and painted pieces
Always pick the figurine up by its base or body, never by fine elements. For painted pieces, a protective varnish changes everything: same care habits, just gentler. Read the FAQ
